Geoscience in action across Latin America

From 22–27 January 2026, geoscience leaders gathered in Bogotá, Colombia, for the 82nd IUGS Executive Committee Meeting and the Latin America Geoscience Workshop, strengthening collaboration and sharing ideas to build capacity across the region.

COGE was proudly represented by Dr. Elvaene James, our General Secretary and Governance & Membership Lead, who highlighted COGE’s 2025 achievements and shared our 2026 vision, with a strong focus on education, outreach, and global engagement.

These meetings marked an important step toward reinforcing cooperation across Latin America and the Caribbean and advancing inclusive, high-impact geoscience initiatives worldwide.
