IUGS COGE at the GeoSciEdX 2026
COGE at GeoSciEd X 2026: Contributing to a Great Week of Geoscience Education
On August 14–16, 2026, COGE was pleased to contribute to GeoSciEd X in Adelaide, Australia––joining educators, researchers and organisations from around the world for three days of discussions, learning and exchange on the future of geoscience education.
Some highlights from the event:
🌏 Field trip to Hallett Cove on the first day, exploring Adelaide’s geological heritage and learning together in the field.
🧭 A hands-on workshop, “From Mapping Geohazards to Disaster Prevention”, led by COGE Chair Sandra Villacorta.
💡 Big Ideas Day, where our chair shared the open consultation draft of the IUGS White Paper on Geoscience Education and invited the community to contribute to its development.
🌍 Valuable exchanges with educators and geoscience organisations from different regions and educational contexts.
🤝 New connections and opportunities for collaboration that we hope will continue well beyond the conference.
We are grateful to the GeoSciEd X organisers, partners and participants for creating such a rich space for collaboration. It was a great opportunity for COGE to contribute to the programme, learn from the community, and be part of these important conversations.
The White Paper consultation remains open and we welcome contributions from the wider geoscience education community.
