Looking ahead to IGC 2028 in Calgary, Canada

From 12–20 August 2028, the global geoscience community will gather under the theme Geosciences for Humanity.

As a body of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), the Commission on Geoscience Education (COGE) is actively supporting the organization of IGC 2028, with several of our members contributing within the Organising Committee.

We encourage colleagues working in geoscience education, outreach, and capacity building to consider submitting session proposals and joining this global conversation.

Key dates:
Session proposals: March 2026 – March 2027
Abstract submissions: June 2027 – March 2028
