🎉We are thrilled to welcome Xavier Juan Pons to the COGE! With over 37 years of dedicated experience as a Biology and Geology educator, Xavier brings exceptional knowledge and a commitment to advancing Earth Science education across Spain and Europe.
📝Xavier is currently a member of the IGEO Council, where he represents Spain, and serves as the Geoscience Education Field Officer (GEFO) for Spain for the European Geosciences Union (EGU). Furthermore, he is the Vice-President of the Spanish Earth Science Teachers Association (AEPECT).
🌎A distinguished teacher at INS Sant Quirze, Xavier has demonstrated unwavering leadership in promoting international collaboration. He served as Spain’s coordinator for the “Science across the World” programme and coordinated major international projects under the Comenius and Erasmus+ frameworks, including Archaeoschool for the Future and Students Tune Into Mars (STIM).
Xavier’s commitment extends to professional development and resource creation. Notably, he led the effort to translate over 300 Earthlearningidea activities into Spanish and Catalan, making high-quality geoscience resources accessible to a broader audience. In recognition of his lifelong contributions, Xavier received the **Special Service Award** from the Spain’s Association for Science Education in January 2025.
