Dr. Clemencia Gómez-New Regular Member from Colombia
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Clemencia Gómez as a new Regular Member, representing Colombia!
Dr. Gómez is a geologist and paleontologist with a PhD in Paleontology, specializing in Quaternary palynology. With more than 25 years of teaching experience, she has been a tireless advocate for geoeducation and the public understanding of Earth sciences across Colombia.
A passionate science communicator, she co-authored the popular educational series “My First Book of…” — engaging young learners with accessible introductions to minerals, rocks, volcanoes, and earthquakes.
Her outstanding contributions to geoscience education have been recognized by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), which honored her with both the Inspirational Geoscience Educator Award (2021) and the Public Service Award (2024) for her leadership and outreach in Geoscience education.
