GEFO Program 2024 Spotlight: Seydou Sogoba
Today we highlight GEFO Seydou Sogoba, who earlier this year participated in a workshop in Koudougou, Burkina Faso, that discussed ozone and climate in Africa. At the workshop, he also shared what it’s like to be a COGE GEFO!

French: Bonjour à la tutrice Susanna! Bonjour à tous et à toutes Je participe depuis hier soir dans la ville de Koudougou (à 100 km de la capitale du Burkina Faso) a un atelier sur la thématique du “refroidissement respectueux de l’ozone et du climat en Afrique de l’ouest et du centre”.
Participant en tant qu’acteur de l’institut national de formation des personnels de l’éducation (INFPE), il nous est demandé par le projet ROCA (Refroidissement respectueux de l’ozone et du climaten Afrique de l’Ouest et Centrale) de la GIZ (Gesellschaft fürInternationale Zusammenarbeit) de réfléchir à l’intégration de la thématique dans les curricula de formation initiale de l’INFPE.
A l’ouverture de l’atelier ce fut un plaisir pour moi en tant que GEFO, de partager dans une brève intervention l’expérience de EGU (European Geosciences Union) qui a travers les earth learning ideas peut aider à un changement qualitatif de la manière d’enseigner les sciences dans nos écoles.
L’atelier qui dure 4 jours regroupe des responsables du bureau OZONE du Burkina, la chargée du projet ROCA de GIZ et des encadreurs pédagogiques, formateurs a l’INFPE.
English: Hello to the tutor Susanna, Hello everyone I have been participating since yesterday evening in the town of Koudougou (100 km from the capital of Burkina Faso) in a workshop on the theme of “cooling respectful of ozone and the climate in Africa from the west and the center.”
Participating as an actor in the national training institute for education personnel (INFPE), we are asked by the GIZ ROCA (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit Ozoneand Climate Friendly Cooling in West and CentralAfrica) project to reflect on the integration of the theme into the initial training curricula of the INFPE.
At the opening of the workshop it was a pleasure for me as GEFO to share in a brief intervention the experience of EGU (European Geosciences Union) which, through earth learning ideas, can help to bring about a qualitative change in the way of teaching science in our schools.
The workshop, which lasts 4 days, brings together managers from the OZONE office in Burkina, the ROCA project manager from GIZ and educational supervisors, trainers at INFPE.
